I went for a jog tonight and I was amazed at how much water there was due to the spring thaw. The stream I am talking about is down by Victoria Glen and the Kissing Bridge trail near Dunke St. Checkout these pictures.

Yesterday I was pleasantly surprised to see a brand new container in our driveway to handle our organic waste. It was a green bin. After opening the container I was happy to see they gave us everything we need to get started with the program. In addition to our composters in the backyard, and our blue bin, we now have this second bin to handle all organic waste. I know that there are other regions in Ontario that are already on similar types of program.
Here is a complete list of all of the acceptable items
It looks like a lot of work went into putting the program together and there are very explicit instructions on how to properly follow the program. I am not going to repost everything on this post simply because I don’t want to put outdated information. To find out all the details about the Waterloo Region Green Bin Organics Program, please visit Waterloo Regions website.
The program was phased in over several years and it looks like they started back in 2007. As of October 2010, all single family homes in the region will have access to the program.

Today Mel and I went for lunch at an awesome little cafe just west of Elmira. The cafe is a mennonite run operation and was formerly the Club 86. The restaurant had all of the charm of a quaint little country cafe. Prices were amazing. We both had soup, sandwich, pop, coffee and a piece of pie. The total cost came to $18.00 for two people. The menu was simple and offered light lunches which consisted of soups, salads, sandwiches and breakfast. What I found really neat was the restautant was part of a house. It also had a large building beside the house that would work well for weddings or banquets.
The cafe is conveniently located between Listowel and Elmira on highway 86. If you are looking to get away from the busyness of the world and want a quick bite to eat and a delicious piece of pie, checkout this little cafe!
